Welcome to the Power Sports and Equipment program at the WMCTC:
Students in the Small Engine Repair program learn to identify engine components and use factory manuals to learn about small engines. Theory, maintenance and repair of small engines such as boat motors, lawn and garden equipment, snowmobiles and motorcycles are also studied. Students gain practice in precision measuring, problem-solving and failure analysis which are evaluated by performance testing.
The Power Sports and Equipment Field:
Small engine repair technicians service and maintain small engines like those used in boats, lawn and garden equipment, motorcycles and snowmobiles. The Small Engines program is certified by the Equipment & Engine Training Council (EETC) in Two and Four Stroke Engines and Electrical Systems. Job opportunities can be found across the United States, especially in areas where a large number of recreational and seasonal small engine equipment is used.
Student Organizations/Community Enrichment:
Students have the opportunity to be involved in SkillsUSA where they potentially compete at the regional, state and national level.
1st Year Students: Upon Instructor recommendation, you can become eligible for the Engineering Technology rotation.
2nd Year Students: Upon successful completion of the first year and/or instructor recommendation, you can become eligible for the Engineering Technology rotation.
